Navigation Team Purpose

This past September, our Church finalized its departure from the United Methodist Church.  As was previously approved by our Church Administrative Board, we have temporarily become an independent church while, as a Church family, we prayerfully and deliberately discern our future over the next 6 to 12 months.

Our Church Navigation Team has been meeting regularly to study and vet the following potential options for our Church; all of which are aligned with our historical Wesleyan doctrines and traditions:

          * The Association of Independent Methodists (AIM)

          * The Global Methodist Church

          * The Congregational Methodist Church

          * The Free Methodist Church

          * The Wesleyan Church

          * The Nazarene Church

          * The Southern Methodist Church

          * The Evangelical Methodist Church

          * The Anglican Church of North America

          * Remaining an Independent Church

Some of these options may not make our initial cut for consideration.  For example, we may recommend against any option that requires our Church to relinquish ownership of our property to a denomination’s control. We expect to reduce this to a more manageable list of options for our Church to consider.

We are also developing a plan to schedule presentations to inform our Church family about the options we ultimately choose to consider.  All of this should culminate in the spring with a vote by Church members to determine where we will land.

In the coming weeks, as we complete our initial research, we will provide a recommendation for the consideration and approval of the Church Administrative Board.  We will share the details of that plan once it is approved.
